Dendonker
Become something of a cause célèbre in our obvious need for a CDM or two - but has anyone here seen him play enough to have a valid opinion upon him? Billy Carvhalo we all have seen

I am eager to know more of him, do we need him or someone who we have come to think is him

Just asking a genuine question

It's not like the last few windows have been wildly successful

Personally I think it'd be quite nice for Sullivan's scattergun to be returned to it's holster and allow Pellegrini and his new mates to get on with it.

I'd rather the manager got the players HE wanted.

Re: Dendonker
It would be a shame if there was zero continuity though with Pellegrini's arrival. Presumably some transfer targets were identified by previous scouting and are still valid.

Re: Dendonker
Most of the stuff in the press is lazy rehashing of previous targets.
I’m sure MP has his own list.

Re: Dendonker
As has been mentioned we pay £10m for a centre forward we didn't need pay massive wages to someone who's past it and then put silly offers in for good young players in positions we are desperate for I would imagine the way the market is now they have probably gone up by 50% at least so we have fucked it royally. Again

Preferably for another club.

Re: Dendonker
I’m not inventing anything you knob it was widely reported that we offered less than £5m as an interim payment with a second payment of about £8m at the end of the season, it was rejected, because the wanted it all up front.

Get over it son these mugs royally fucked up in the last window

Ludo21 - "the Fulham duo" "old targets"

George Cohen and Jimmy Hill?

Re: Dendonker
the narrative has been from the start that they want 20 odd million and we don't think he is worth that much

you'd like to imagine there would be a lot more competition about

Re: Dendonker
What was the bid? What is Dendoncker worth? I doubt you have a clue on either, yet you're willing to invent a narrative to criticise the club for it.

DukeofDevo 3:55 Thu May 24
Re: Dendonker
Yeah cheers Alex great insight! The bid was so poor it was designed to be rejected.

The point is we spent money on a couple of players that there was no intention of ever playing, and put in a risable offer for a player that could have added something!

Get over yourself son not everybody is waiting for your pithy observations

Why can't we just sell him and get someone better?

I'm interested what MP does with Antonio. That headless powerhouse who has no idea how to pass.

Eggbert Nobacon 2:19 Thu May 24
Re: Dendonker
I think MP's liking for possession will see Kouyate struggling to get in the side even if we don't bring anyone else in a Obiang, Rice and Nobes are all better on the ball

Re: Dendonker
I'm actually more excited to see what MP does with Kouyate, he is still a beast when in the mood & I think MP's influence could make him a top performer (or sold before the season starts).

Great, another midfielder that PLANKS want to play at CB.

He is already PLAYING at centre back for Anderlecht

28 games at CB for them last season

only 14 in midfield

If putting a bid in that a club refuses upsets you, you're going to end up very upset. I would assume dozens such bids are discussed between clubs trying to buy players every transfer window.

I don't see the great mystery with Dendoncker. He was looked at, a bid was possibly put in, the deal didn't come together. Move on.

ludo21 11:04 Thu May 24
Re: Dendonker
Apparently Stuart Pearce went out to watch him again in Dendoncker’s last match so presumably we are / were interested still.

I assume that Pellegrini will sit down with the scouts and discuss the players that we are interested in rather than rip up the book and start again... I see today that we are still supposed to be interested in the Fulham duo, so is you can believe that then ‘old’ targets are still on the radar.

Re: Dendonker
My gripe about this Dendoncker situation is that he is yet another player who we have been on the verge of signing, but haven't because we put in some silly bid with the balance to be paid.

Yet we spunk £10m on a striker that we don't need and has only played minutes. We spunk wages on Evra who we didn't really need and never used except for minutes but again we never secured Dendoncker. Add to that the Payet, Sakho and Ayew money and it's a real WTF is going on moment

It looks like they've been gambling on staying up, which we have, and holding funds back for the new bloke, which turns out to be Pellegrini, which is a positive.

The fact it's a player called Dendoncker is irrelevant it's the shambles and incoherent nature of the actions taken to acquire him that astounds me!

We must have rated him otherwise we wouldn't have been in for him He's a Belgian international going to the World Cup. This last transfer window has absolutely personified the chaos that has reigned in the world of our transfer policy. Names were going after but never show any interest again it's bizarre. And surely this chaos and lack of action in the transfer market is what led to the Burnley blow up!

If we rated him in January then we must still rate him so why haven't we signed him? Bizarre
